Digital zoom drone refers to a drone equipped with an aerial camera that supports digital zoom function. It magnifies the captured images through built-in software algorithms, enabling remote observation and zooming in on the target without changing the lens. It is widely used in scenarios such as inspection, security, aerial evidence collection, etc.
Basic principles
- The camera first captures the complete image at the original resolution;
- The onboard chip of the drone cuts, interpolates, enlarges, and reconstructs pixels in the central area of the image;
- The software algorithm fills in missing pixels to maintain the clarity of the enlarged image for viewing;
- Finally, a zoomed in image is presented on the screen or stored file, achieving a telescope like observation effect.
- Simple understanding: Digital zoom is not about truly zooming in on the focal length of the lens, but about enlarging and displaying specific parts of the image.
