They have a similar appearance to traditional manned fixed wing aircraft and are the mainstream type of unmanned aerial vehicle for long endurance and large-scale operations.

 

Basic principles

 

  • Relying on wing aerodynamics: When an aircraft flies forward, the airflow flows over the wings to create a pressure difference, generating upward lift to support the body.
  • Powered by propellers or jets, it provides forward thrust and overcomes air resistance to achieve cruising.
  • Control the flight attitude (pitch, roll, yaw) through aerodynamic surfaces such as ailerons, elevators, and rudders.
  • It is necessary to maintain a certain forward flight speed to maintain lift and cannot hover in place like a multi rotor.

  • Extremely long endurance: high aerodynamic efficiency, with endurance usually measured in hours, far superior to multi rotor aircraft.
  • Fast flying speed: suitable for long-distance rapid arrival and large-scale coverage.
